During Leon’s attack on Walter’s castle, he locates five weapon types which had been dropped by previous hunters who had failed in their attempt to hunt Walter.

Leon masters their use by collecting seven orbs that allowed him to temper them with mystic power, thus creating four weapons he shows great skill in using; the dagger, the axe, holy water, and cross which later members of the Belmont clan use.

It was these weapons that were passed on into the family for centuries, eventually to be used in the family's never-ending war against Mathias.

Of note: He is the only Belmont capable of using the crystal.

𝔰𝔴𝔬𝔯𝔡;

Leon is skilled with a sword, as any 11th century knight would be. He was indeed a very skilled soldier, and CV's opening states that one such company of knights was viewed as invincible due to the leadership of both Leon and Mathias Cronqvist. The opening further adds that Leon's combat skill is second to none.

𝔳𝔞𝔪𝔭𝔦𝔯𝔢 𝔎𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔢𝔯 𝔴𝔥𝔦𝔭;

the vampire killer is a whip forged from Sara’s soul and her will, a whip created by alchemy, and Leon’s resolve. As such, it’s lethal to all vampires and those associated with them, and his skill with it is massive. He’s capable of using it, Indiana Jones style, to scale large objects and even pull himself to them in addition.

𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔤𝔞𝔲𝔫𝔱𝔩𝔢𝔱;

Rinaldo enchants Leon’s gauntlet early in the game to absorb any magical power thrown his way. Upon a series of successful defends, Leon will be able to shove the power right back at any assailant.
